Twins vs Angels

Its the bottom of the first inning, Twins at bat and already looking up a crooked number in the top half of the box score.  But hope keeps springing for the Twins, and the Pear King (Bartlett) has just hit a stand up triple!  Luck kept the ball from bouncing over the fence and turning the hit into a mandatory double.  Bartlett's speed put him on third, not even needing the slide.

Mauer strikes out (when did this string of strike outs start for our Joe?).  Morneau hits a single, scoring Bartlett (yes that was a two out hit).   Torii comes to bat and gets on base on an error.  Then the amazing non-Kubel comes to bat and with two out and runners on base, with the Twins behind by a run (conditions in which I was ready to swear a dying oath that the non-Kubel couldn't deliver a needed hit to save his own butt), the non-Kubel delivers a triple.  This, of course, scores both Morneau and Hunter, giving the Twins a 3-2 lead.  Nummmmmm, crow.  I'll happily eat it if it gives us a win!

Top of the Second

Silva is pumped up.  He allows a single with one out.  Doesn't it seem that when Silva is on his game, he'll actually let the opposing team hit a single, just so he can have the Twins turn a double play behind him?  Well, this inning Silva started the inning ending double play himself.

Bottom of the Second

Whoa, that went by fast.  Hopefully the Angels will go just as fast in the top of the third.

Top of the Third

Starts with a walk, then a fly ball out, then a base hit, with TWO throwing errors allowing the two base runners to advance to second and third.  TWO errors by the Twins?  Adding to the error in the first inning?  Arrrgh!

And then the Angels get a double and score TWO runs putting them back in the lead 4-3.
We manage to get out of the inning with another double play.

Bottom of the Third

And the Twins are coming back again - 5-4 Twins on a TWO run home run by Morneau ( a home run, by a Twin? I vaguely remember these.)  And we aren't out of the inning yet  Torii gets a base hit, then the non-Kubel gets another hit.  McDonald walks to fill the bases, and then Punto gets a hit (with two out!) scoring TWO.  We end the inning with the Twins 7, Angels 4.

Top of the Fourt
h - fast forward to the top of the Seventh

I had to put the Twins on auto pilot while I took care of the cat and the husband.  Which was good timing on my part since our internet connection which has been wobbling on and off all day, wobbled off again.
So, here it is the bottom of the seventh and the Twins are still in the lead 7 to 5 and Silva has
exited the game after giving us a good six and two-thirds innings.

Fast Forward to the end of the game -

Twins win 7 to 5, Silva gets the win, Nathan gets the save, the amazing non-Kubel goes three for three with 2 RBI's and came into score one.  Crow ala king, not a favorite dish, but tasty when seasoned with a win.
