Twins vs Oakland
The good guys won tonight behind another sparkling performance by Johann Santana. The Twins scored five times which has enough to deliver the win for Santana, who went 7 innings. Johann gave up only 4 hits while striking out 8 and allowing no Athletics to cross the home plate to score. Twins relievers took over in the eighth inning - Neshek gave up one hit while getting 3 outs to close the inning. Juan Rincon came into the nineth inning with the Twins at 5 runs and the Athletics at zero runs. Rincon who has been a lights out reliever for the Twins in seasons past, has struggled lately and tonight would be a struggle for Rincon, again. Juan would get only one out in the nineth, and be charged with 3 earned runs, a hit bats man, and allowing a home run. Joe Nathan would be called out of the bullpen on short notice in a game which was suddenly a save situation. Fortunetely Nathan was up to the challenge and while allowing one hit which let in the third run (charged to Rincon) he rang up the two outs required for a save and a Twins win.
